Sufyan Mehmood belonged to village 100 GB, Jaranwala, District Faislabad in province Punjab. He was born on 01 December, 1979 to Mohammad Shafi, a local farmer of the area. He had three brothers and three sisters.

After doing his matric, he joined Pakistan Navy in 1996.

The young sailor was very much thrilled by flying and therefore opted to join Naval Aviation. The cheerful young lad sometime felt uneasiness in disciplined and tough military life, but was able to adjust quickly. Rising to unlimited vastness of skies was his passion. He ultimately met his destiny on 10 August, 1999 at a tender age of 20. He has made his family, his friends proud and is still remembered by them in profound memories.
